Lifestyle Changes For Diabetes Control
About Me
Lifestyle Changes For Diabetes Control

My name is Tony Richards and when I turned 40 years old I began having unusual health symptoms including a powerful thirst and numbness in my hands. I went to see my doctor and after running tests he determined that I had diabetes. My doctor prescribed medicine for my condition and he also told me to make some lifestyle changes or the diabetes would get worse. I didn't want that to happen so I began researching ways to control diabetes. After implementing these ideas, my condition actually got better and I was able to reduce the amount of medication I was taking. If your doctor has diagnosed you with diabetes, it's very beneficial for you to read my blog so your condition doesn't worsen. I hope that by following this blog, it will help you to control your diabetes too.

What You Can Expect From Your Women's Health Screening

For Content

If you have never gone in to see your gynecologist for a women's health screening, then you may be a little bit nervous because you probably don't have the first clue of what to expect. Luckily, this article is designed to give you a little bit of insight into what you can expect from this appointment. Ready to learn more? Read on.

Usual Checkup Tasks

You have undoubtedly had at least a few checkups in your lifetime—especially as a kid when they are required for school. During your women's health screening, your doctor or nurse will take all of your vital signs, listen to your heart rate, take your weight and height, and talk to you about any health issues or concerns that you have. All of these basic checkup things will help give your gynecologist a better understanding of your overall health and where you should be.

Pap Smear

If you haven't ever had a Pap smear or if you haven't had one in over three years then your gynecologist will probably take one as part of your women's wellness checkup. During a pap smear, you will lay down on a table and put your feet in some stirrups. Then, your gynecologist will use a device to open up the vaginal canal (you may feel a little bit of pressure but it shouldn't be painful), and use a swab to take some cells from your vaginal wall and send them off to the lab to be tested. During this part of the exam, you may feel a slight amount of cramping, but it shouldn't be very painful.

Breast Exam

Another examination that they may conduct if you are over the age of 40 or 45 is a breast examination. During your breast examination, your doctor will check your breasts for lumps or any abnormalities with their hands. After this, they then may perform a test called a mammogram, which is an X-ray imaging system that is designed to take X-ray images of your breast tissue to check for breast cancer.

As you can see, there are several different things that your doctor will look for during your women's health screening. The good news is that this doctor's visit shouldn't be painful and it will help ensure that your body is as healthy as possible.
