Lifestyle Changes For Diabetes Control
About Me
Lifestyle Changes For Diabetes Control

My name is Tony Richards and when I turned 40 years old I began having unusual health symptoms including a powerful thirst and numbness in my hands. I went to see my doctor and after running tests he determined that I had diabetes. My doctor prescribed medicine for my condition and he also told me to make some lifestyle changes or the diabetes would get worse. I didn't want that to happen so I began researching ways to control diabetes. After implementing these ideas, my condition actually got better and I was able to reduce the amount of medication I was taking. If your doctor has diagnosed you with diabetes, it's very beneficial for you to read my blog so your condition doesn't worsen. I hope that by following this blog, it will help you to control your diabetes too.

What Kinds of Drug and Alcohol Tests Are There?

For Content

Perhaps you have been told by a future employer that you need to undergo drug testing, or maybe you are an employer looking at your options for drug and alcohol testing. Regardless of why you are considering testing, you must understand the types of testing available to you.

These are a few of the options for drug testing that you should know about.

Five-Panel Drug Test

The five-panel drug test is one of the most common options for testing. As the name of the test implies, it looks for five types of substances: marijuana, cocaine, opioids, PCP, and amphetamines. This kind of test is often required by large employers like the Department of Transportation. The test typically uses urine to look for signs of substance use.

Ten-Panel Drug Test

This drug test looks for more substances than the five-panel test. The ten-panel test focuses on prescription drugs. Not every workplace uses this test, but it can be useful in many situations.

This test, which uses either urine or blood, will look for all the same substances as the five-panel test plus barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, methaqualone, and propoxyphene.

12-Panel Drug Test

The 12-panel drug test is less common than the other options, but they do allow for more extensive insight into substance use. Additionally, it can provide more insight into the different types of opioids that may be used, including hydrocodone and oxycodone.

Alcohol Testing

Of course, the drug tests do not look for alcohol specifically, so you may need additional testing if this is something you want to look for as well. In some cases, alcohol testing is done via a breath test with a breathalyzer, but other tests are complete with blood and hair testing.

If you are still trying to choose an alcohol test, you should first consider how far back you want to look. For example, you can use a breathalyzer if you only want to look back a few hours, but you should choose a hair test if you want to know somebody's alcohol use for the last few months.

Alcohol and Drug Testing Can Help

Regular testing is a great option for those who are considering hiring new employees, and it is also a good way for employees to show that they can be solid workers. Testing is beneficial for many reasons. If you are ready to begin testing, you have many options to choose from.
